JOHANNESBURG – South African arms supplier, Armscor, says it expects a full report today into what information was accessed or stolen by online hack-tivists.

It’s being reported that the hacktivists, who have aligned themselves with the global group Anonymous, breached the government-owned company’s website.

The data appears to have washed up on the dark web, a layer of the internet not easily accessed by the public.

There are reports that invoicing and other financial information were stolen, but the company said that so far, it had not identified any serious loss of data.

Armscor’s Lulu Mzili said: “I’m happy to say at this stage when we did the initial investigating from our side was that the information that was accessed doesn’t contain classified content.”

Mzili said no criminal investigation has been launched yet but this could change later today.

“We’re awaiting the investigating report that we’ll be getting so that we can determine the full extent of the incident.”
