DNC Chair Blasts Trump For ‘Encouraging Cybercrime’ in New Statement on Hacking – TheBlaze.com
On the heels of a new release of documents purportedly stolen from the Democratic National Committee, the political organization is going after Donald Trump instead of the hacker, who goes by Guccifer 2.0.
Donna Brazile, interim chairwoman of the DNC, is confident Russians are behind the often-embarrassing links, but says it is the Republican presidential nominee who is benefitting from the leaks.
“There’s one person who stands to benefit from these criminal acts, and that’s Donald Trump,” Brazile said in a statement. “Not only has Trump embraced [Russian President Vladimir] Putin, he publicly encouraged further Russian espionage to help his campaign.”
“Like so many of the words Trump has uttered this election season,” Brazile continued, “his statements encouraging cybercrime are dangerous, divisive, and unprecedented.”
The data dump, according to The Hill, did not contain much newsworthy content. According to Brazile, whose legal team is reviewing the findings, “it is common for Russian hackers to forge documents.”
It has not yet been unilaterally confirmed that Russia is behind the hack, but over the summer, a U.S. official said there is “little doubt” the country is involved.
